What We Do

At Forces for Change, we think sustainable development starts with empowering families. We help communities take charge of their futures. We focus on two main areas: Family-Focused Programs and Human Rights Advocacy. We give Sudanese families the tools, resources, and support they need. Mission

Partnerships

We recruit and partner with any nonprofit that believes in our vision and mission of fighting poverty and marginalization.

We allow independent philanthropic groups to use our tools and means to transform the lives of their chosen families and communities.

At Forces for Change, we believe change is possible. Families, communities, and advocates can unite to create a fair and just society. We aim to support Sudan’s vulnerable people through our programs. We focus on creating lasting chances for growth and stability.

Our special focus is on the needs of Sudan’s indigenous people:

Indigenous populations in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, and Blue Nile State have endured decades of social and economic injustices. In addition, they are disproportionately affected by the ongoing war, facing displacement, violence, and humanitarian crises due to ethnic and political conflicts.

Darfur: The region has been the scene of prolonged instability and conflict, with ethnic and political tensions. The conflict between the government forces and indigenous populations in 2003 resulted in a genocide. Currently, the conflict between the former government allies destroyed hundreds of villages and drove millions of indigenous tribes into displaced people’s camps and across Chad into refugee camps.

Nuba Mountains: The Nuba people of the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan state, have faced violence and displacement.  The Nuba Mountains have been a site of conflict, with the Sudanese government and Arab militias targeting them in their mountainous hideouts.

Blue Nile State: The war particularly in the Blue Nile region, has had a devastating impact on indigenous populations, leading to displacement, food insecurity, and a breakdown of essential services, with 40% of the state's population affected.

Sudanese women and their children are the most impacted by the violence and chaos.
